The old Cowbridge Grammar School Old Boys web site has been moved from its previous ISP and will have to be reconstructed.
Its new format will be easier to manage and for OB’s to post comments and blogs.

Owing to the ridiculous number of automated spam comments from quasi commercial sites, we have had to adopt those annoying letters and numbers that you have to type in to prove you are a human. We hope this won’t put you off sending in your comments.

The end of another era. Demolition notice on "New School"
The cost of running the Old Boys Association is met from funds that accrued from donations made some years ago. Without a subscription income our funds have now dwindled to the point where, after the costs of the plaque and the service, we no longer have the wherewithall to make another mail shot to the 280 or so Old Boy’s who do not have email addresses.
This shortage of funds is of course exacerbated by the recent extortionate rise in postage.
We need to consider our options and the committee will try to come up with ideas but we welcome your views. Should we ask for a small annual subscription?; should we restrict our postal list to the relatively few who bother to respond, even if they are unable to attend functions?; Should we have either no subscription or reduced subs for those who can be contacted by email? YOUR VIEWS PLEASE
A appeal for donations was made on Saturday at the buffet and a subsequent collection resulted in our being in a slightly happier financial position but, if you weren’t there or didn’t contribute, may I now ask you to put a cheque, however small, in the post to Neil Workman, our Secretary at 6 Hopyard Meadow, Westgate, Cowbridge, CF71 7AN

On Saturday 28th we concluded our celebration of the lifelong service that Iolo gladly gave to education, mainly in Cowbridge but also in Cheltenham.
Around 100 attended a dedication of a plaque commemorating Iolo as the last head of CGS. A score or thereabouts of the Davies family were in attendance ranging from Iolo’s sister to his latest grand daughter (age 7 weeks)

The Reverend Peter Cobb (master 1949-1966)
all gave short insights into aspects of Iolo’s life, personality and time at Cowbridge.
The Service was followed by a buffet and afterwards many found their way to the front bar of the Duke where old memories were re-kindled.
Looking for (and finding) the nails hammered into the churchyard wall to provide an illicit way over the wall and onto the fire escape. Only two are OB’s ( a clue to the identity of one is the time worn yellow waistcoat)
